The All Saints Foundation

Restoration of the North ChancelTo ensure the future of the Church in Margaret Street All Saints Foundation (Registered Charity No. 273390) was founded in 1977 and exists to provide a foundation for the future. Since then, it has succeeded in raising over £1 million and has funded:

  • consolidation of the vaulted ceiling of the Chancel, conservation of the paintings on the sanctuary walls and restoration of the reredos of the Lady Altar;
  • uncovering the original decoration of the Baptistery;
  • earlier repairs to the organ;
  • renovations to the fabric of the church and the ancillary buildings which provide facilities for the life and mission of All Saints;
  • renewal of the roof of the church, a major project completed in 1997, towards which the Foundation made a considerable contribution.

The calls on the Foundation’s resources do not cease. Works that need to be carried out in the near future include:

  • Worn floor tiles rewiring and lighting;
  • conservation of the stained glass;
  • partial renewal of floor tiling in the church;
  • removal of overpainting and restoration of the interior of the Nave;

The Foundation made a large donation to the recent Organ Restoration.

We owe it to the memory of those who have gone before us, as well as to generations of future worshippers, to provide the means whereby All Saints continues to be “the House of God and the Gate of Heaven”. And to God be the Glory!

How you can help

When All Saints was built, the monies required were provided by some very generous private donors; there was no State funding. It now seems unlikely that we shall be eligible for any government grants towards the interior renewal, except for the proposed grant in lieu of a reduction in the rate of VAT. The Foundation relies on the generosity of the congregation and friends of All Saints. It is that same generosity which has enabled All Saints to be what it is today and has been over the past 150 years.

Cash gifts can be a single payment or a series of payments for a limited or indefinite period. It may be convenient to use the attached standing order form for a series of gifts. If you are a UK taxpayer you can increase the value of your gift or series of gifts by signing the gift aid declaration attached. With a basic rate income tax at 22% this increases the value of your gift by 28%. Higher-rate taxpayers will also get a reduction in their personal tax bill.

Gifts of shares have their own tax advantages: no capital gains tax is payable on any unrealised gain and the donor receives income tax relief on the full value of the shares.

Legacies to charities are deducted from the amount on which inheritance tax is payable.

If you want to make a gift of shares or make a legacy to the Foundation in your will or if you have any questions, the Administrator will be delighted to help. Please contact:
